Migration explained

Your vehicles, with a new administrator behind them

Migration moves the administration of existing SPVs and funds onto Allocations. The entities, operating agreements, investors and bank accounts stay as they are. What moves is the record: the ledger, capital accounts, documents and tax history, imported and reconciled so the next statement, call or K-1 comes from one platform.

Managers migrate when they have vehicles spread across providers, when a prior administrator is slow or expensive, or when they want funds and SPVs on the same dashboard.

What moves

Everything the next statement depends on

Five sets of records are imported for every vehicle, then tied out to your last statements before the switchover.

01

Ledger and capital accounts

Every contribution, distribution, fee and allocation, reconciled to your last statements.

02

Investor records

Names, entities, contact details, KYC files, accreditation and signed documents, with portal invitations ready.

03

Documents

Operating agreements, LPAs, subscription documents, side letters and amendments, organized by vehicle.

04

Tax history

Prior partnership returns and K-1s, so this year’s filings start from the right basis.

05

Open items

Pending capital calls, distributions in progress and unfiled forms, picked up without a gap.

Timeline

Five steps, planned around a quarter-end

The fund keeps running while the records move. Investors are switched over once, with their full history in place.

1

Scoping

Vehicles, investors, documents, open items and reporting obligations mapped with the migration team, and a cutover date agreed.

2

Data transfer

Ledger, capital accounts, transaction history, investor records and documents are exported from the old system and imported.

3

Reconciliation

Balances are tied out to your last statements and audited financials, vehicle by vehicle, before anything goes live.

4

Investor switchover

Investors are invited to the portal with their full history in place, and told once, in your words, what changes.

5

Run on Allocations

The next capital call, distribution, statement and K-1 cycle run on the platform.

Why managers migrate

One platform for everything you already run

Most managers arrive with a fund at one administrator, SPVs at another and a few in spreadsheets.

01

No gap for investors

Investors see one switchover, with their full history already in the portal.

02

Clean books from day one

Balances reconciled to your last statements before anything goes live.

03

Every vehicle in one place

Funds and SPVs that lived with different providers run from one dashboard.

04

Tax continuity

Prior returns and K-1s carried over, so this year’s filings start from the right basis.

05

Guided throughout

The migration team runs the plan, the import and the reconciliation with you.

Questions

Before you switch

Every migration starts with a scoping call. Book a demo to walk through it with the team.

What can be migrated?

+

SPVs and funds of any type, from another administrator, a law firm, an accountant or spreadsheets. Entities, investors, capital accounts, documents and tax history all move.

Do I need to form new entities?

+

No. Your existing entities, operating agreements and bank accounts stay as they are. Allocations takes over the administration.

How long does it take?

+

It depends on the number of vehicles, investors and years of history. Most migrations are planned around a quarter-end so the first full cycle on Allocations starts cleanly.

What do my investors have to do?

+

Accept a portal invitation. Their ownership, documents and history are already there. You decide what they’re told and when.

Can I migrate mid-year?

+

Yes. Open items such as pending capital calls or distributions are picked up where they stand, and the year’s tax filings are prepared from the imported history.

What happens to my old administrator?

+

You give notice on your own timeline. Allocations coordinates the data export with them where needed.
